I am, officially, on summer vacation; the Scope of Work offices will be closed through Labor Day. This is the longest I have stepped away from the salt mines since 2019, when I took my second paternity leave. I believe it’ll be the longest actual vacation I’ve taken since I began writing this newsletter in 2013.
I have been preparing for this for months, commissioning a series of excellent posts to publish during the time I’m gone. These posts will go out to paid subscribers only — the folks who make it possible for me to take vacations in the first place. You can check your subscription status at the bottom of this email; if you’re not yet a paid subscriber and think that even people who write for a living deserve a vacation, then you can start a paid subscription here.
- The Scope of Work Reading group is reading Nuts and Bolts: Seven Small Inventions That Changed the World in a Big Way by Roma Agrawal; the author will join us, in mid-September, to discuss the book. You should join us too, by starting one of those aforementioned paid subscriptions 😉
- I will, despite my vacation, be writing (real! handwritten!) postcards to paid subscribers over the coming month. If you’d like to receive one, put your info...
While I’m off the clock until Labor Day, the presses keep running for paid subscribers. Come hang out in the shade with us.
